Why Mental Readiness Matters During New Player Engagement

Decades of scientific research affirm that learning always precedes performance and thus successful learning is a key driver of successful performance. A clear and accurate understanding of a players' current learning skills allows a coach to create a customized blueprint to maximize their development and get them to productive reps faster and more often. Mental readiness dictates how to best teach new information and ensure it sticks. Not just on the field, but in the classroom (athletic and academic success are promoted by the exact same learning skills). For your new players, this means you can determine up-front which player will be a "quick study" or which player needs more time for success - and all of this can be known before they even begin practice and classes. Understanding their mental readiness allows you to answer those questions from the day they arrive on campus and increase the likelihood of success through every transition.
